Before 1988, various clubs and organizations delivered holiday baskets and toys to needy families in Clay County. Realizing that many deserving families were not being reached by this type of aid, several organizations such as the Rotary and Elks Lodge #2376, combined forces and established the Northland Christmas Store.
In 1988, the Christmas Store served 439 families. We currently serve approximately 1,000 families during the four days the store is open.
The Store provides food for Christmas dinner, personal care items, and toys to needy Clay County families and individuals at no cost. Eligible families are invited to shop at the Christmas Store during our four-day season, selecting gifts for their family members and a food box containing non-perishable items for Christmas dinner. Holiday care packages are also delivered to homebound individuals.
