Dear Volunteer,

On behalf of the Northland Christmas Store Board of Directors, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to you for helping make our 2019 Christmas Store a success! Our 2019 efforts assisted over 1500 people and the need continues this
year. Many of our volunteers return each year to assist; without this continued commitment of our volunteers, the Store would not be possible. The Board hopes you enjoyed this experience and will consider donating your time to assist our clients again this year. This year marks our 31 st year of operation.

2020 has been a very trying time for our community due to Covid-19. The Northland Christmas Store has been greatly affected by the inability to fundraise throughout this year. Our fund balance is less than usual; therefore we have made some hard decisions in figuring out how best to serve our families. Our Board’s main focus will be on providing toys for the children. Also provided for each family, will be hygiene and cleaning products. The food option has been eliminated. All of our families qualify for food stamps and many food distribution opportunities are available due to the pandemic.

Due to the generosity of the Gladstone Elks Club and Clay County Senior Services, the Northland Christmas Store will continue to serve our homebound Senior Citizens. Seniors will not see a reduction in service; they will receive non-perishable food, hygiene items, cleaning products and a gift card.

For the safety of our volunteers and the families we serve the Store process has been modified. North Cross UMC is not available this year due to Covid-19  restrictions. We will be utilizing a warehouse space in NKC at 1534 Burlington Ave. Families will not enter the warehouse, instead they will pull up and we will load their cars with pre-boxed items and their toys. Our Toy Buyers will choose toys for each child based on a survey we conduct with the parents when they apply.

Volunteers will be needed to unload stock trucks, build boxes, and assemble hygiene and cleaning supply boxes. Volunteers will be walking up and down a short flight of stairs to load the cars. The work will be physical and the need
for strong backs a necessity. Social distancing will be practiced, masks worn and sanitizer provided for all who volunteer.

The Store dates for 2020 are December 7 th , 8 th and 9 th . Volunteer hours are listed below:
